My friend is trying to reformat and install XP on a laptop.
How do you get into BIOS mode to change the BOOT SEQUENCE to boot from CD? Tried everything...esc, f2, f5, f8, ctrl-alt-delete, ctrl-alt-insert......nothing works.
I use F2 on my DELL......so i dont know what to tell him.

thanks

Go to the maufacturer's web site and read the manual there.
I don't know why these guys do arcane stuff for basic functions but you can find what you need there.
The only problem is that you may have a comp too proprietary to make an OS change possible.

on many PC's it the del key right after the memory count. You have to get it right in the beginning cause if U wait too long your not going to get into the BIOS...

Many boot up screens will say at the bottom to "hit____to enter setup". As ktkendall said it is usually the delete key. Try to press the key several times instead of pressing it down once and holding it. Again as ktkendall said, if you hit to soon it won't work, you usually just get a beep, and if you hit it too late it won't work.
