I'd still look at the 8X cards they will only run at 4X and you would have an 8X for a future upgrade.

If a video card is DDR does my motherboard have to be DDR compatible? So you recommend the Radeon8500?

Hey guys you think this is worth the upgrade from a Geforce2 to this:

Kind of on a tight budget.........

if your video card uses DDR memory and is AGP compatible, you're fine... the system RAM on your mobo doesn't have to be the same as the video card RAM...

You would see a huge difference but if you want even better and don't need the Direct 9 capability yet the GeForce 4ti 4200 is an excellent card. The FX cards are seriously over priced. The 5200 is slower than then the lower end Ti cards.

Yeah, the ti4200 is a much better card. However, if you want to save $20 on that FX card, get it from www.newegg.com :D $69.99 w/free shipping

I would recommend one of these instead. They are more reliable card manufacturers. I've not heard a lot of good about Albatron cards. MSI, ASUS, and ABIT make great nVidia cards.

yo guys.. i thank you for all this great info. Thanks for the research Mr N8. I think I am going to go with the ABIT. That mug looks dope! BTW, I see all these video cards coming out with Fans, do these fans stay silent or are they loud and annoying? I remember getting a tnt2 a long time ago it had a fan on it and after a 1yr the fan just started to make a terrible noise. Do these fans have a life time warranty.....

Most of the current cards have fans on them. They will add a little noise to your system, but not a lot. The fans on both of my ATI cards have been fine. The fans will most likely be covered for the term of the manufacturer's warranty.
