Despite alot of surfing 3d guru, nvidia etc, I apparently still don't get how to install Detonator drivers. K7S5A, Tbird1.4, 512 PC2100 ram, VisionTekGFORCE 3 (64Mb DDR). From install CD that came with the card, I have no problem puttin on the 1200 Dets. I then dl the 3082 DETs from nvidia site, and shut down NAV and all other progs before running the .exe from nvidia. Then I go to add/remove programs and uninstall old driver, then select new standard pci adapter (in control panel, display, properties, advanced, adapter), which I apply and reboot. Then I go back to display properties, select gforce 3 adaptor and point to the folder with the dl drivers. After reboot windows detects new hardware (gforce 3) and installs drivers. After final reboot and reset settings to 1024x768 and 32-bit truecolor, when i go to dispay properties, settings, advanced, the Driver version info window under the GeForce3 tab says everything is 4.13.01.3082, except nvmini2.vxd, which is 4.13.01.1200. What am I doing wrong?

There more than likely isn't an update for that one file.

Thanks, Hal. Everything seems to work fine, even with the one older file. Since I posted, I went back to nvidia and downloaded the latest Det40's just to see what would happen. They seemed to install fine, but when i went to display properties, advanced, and clicked on the Gforce3 tab, the window would not open, curser moved like mud and the machine locked up. Only way out was hard reboot. So have rolled back, painstakingly, to the 3082 win-certified Dets with the one older file. . . btw, what happened to Visiontek - cannot find them on the web anymore? Thanks again.

The old file thing kept nagging at me and I was experiencing hangs in loading internet pages, so, I selected standard vga driver, went to add/remove origrams and uninstalled dets, then rebooted. then to regedit and deleted Nvidia Corporation key. refreshed registry, then reinstalled the 3082 executable. Old 1200 file now gone, and performance is great on the gforce 3.
