It is best, if possible, to have your computer on a circuit of it's own. And a good surge protector.

I prefer the PSU that have a battery backup. I've had real good luck with Cyber-Power but Tripp-Lite and APC are also good ones.

The Absolutely BEST that can be bought, is a Panamax surge protector. You can go to www.satellitetv.com and they carry them. Be warned however, they are expensive! The Panamax
that I bought for my satellite system back in 1990 cost me $150.00. That is the absolutely best because they carry a $5,000,000.00 insurance policy on theirs. However, if you don't want to put out that kind of cash, you can get a CyberPower surge protector from Best Buy. That is the brand that I am currently using on my PC. They aren't as expensive as the Panamax, but they do carry a decent insurance policy in case their surge protection should accidently fail. Depending on the size and speed of surge protection, they run from $19.95 to about $39.95 for just surge protection. If you also want a UPS the bottom line runs about $89.95, if memory serves me right. The prices I have used are from the best I can recall, so don't quote me. Also, if money is really tight, you can find some halfway decent surge protectors @ WalMart. "God forbid I should say that name!" ;) thorlo6
