This morning I went to turn on my computer. I pressed the button and all the led`s lit up and the fans started but the screen was blank. I restarted it many times untill it finaly started but now when it gets to the Windows ME screen it stalls. It just stays there and wont move on. That screen is there 5 seconds max usualy. I dont know what to do.

1st > It starts and you get video, which means that the Board,PSU, CPU, and RAM are fine.
More thatn likely you have a corrupted operating system, that can be caused by many differant things, including a virus, AOL install upgrade, or drivers.
With ME you have a System Restore function which may enable you to go back a day or so. So you will need to start the computer in Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key during the start up. When you get into Safe Mode go Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
When the restore screen comes up click the restore my computer and look for a restore point and follow the on-screen instructions.

I dont have AOL and the last time I got a driver was more then 1 year ago when I got my ethernet card. Unfortunatly I do not have any restore points.

Well wheather you like it or not, the only solution you have left is a full reinstall of the operating system.
If you can afford it, it would be a good time to move up to Windows XP as it is a much better operating system than ME.

well...I dont seem to have much luck since someone left the windows CD on the floor and it got steped on... I dont need to tell you the rest.
You say it will run in safe mode? Then there needs to be a way to fix it. I had just finished customising my profile. If no one has any idea of how I can fix it then is it still possible to make backups of files in safe mode?
:(

when your in safe mode the system does not install any drivers at all for devices to function the way you will expect them to
