When I try to use Clone DVD, it tells me it cannot find the file needed to write from a ripped DVD on my hard drive. The path to the ripped DVD is correct.
Does anyone know of a fix for this.
I am using DVD decrypter to rip the files, but it seems that the files are of an incorrect type.

Jack,
what is the file extension of the files once they are ripped?
if you have a dvd player and a separate writer, skip the step of ripping, and clone directly from the disc...your decrypter may be changing the dvd format to somethig CloneDVD doesn't recognise

Thanks for the prompt reply,
I have tried .ifo and .iso, which clone supports.
I have to rip the DVD first, so that it will put a very large file on to a 4.7 gig writable disc. That is what the ripping tool is for.

I've always been an advocate of ripping without third party software. I'm not sure if this will help your situation, but try opening the dvd in winexplorer...hightlight the file and copy it to a folder on your hard drive, it will be in dvd format. Then try to use Clone to do the writing to disc.

That is a good idea Dan, but it would not be compressed for it to go onto a 4.7 gig writable disc. The ripping tool compresses DVDs.

forgive me if i am wrong but i thought clone dvd copys a 9gb dvd film from the dvd drive to the hard drive compresing it as it goes then copys it back to a blank dvd 4.7gb disk it dose not need you to compres the dvd first check out this website

sorry guys, I was unaware of how clone worked.
I'm still thinking along the lines of cdr, where the format can stay the same and sizeis not such an issue...
so tell me, once the dvd is compressed and written, can it be played in a home dvd player?

It can be played in a home DVD player.
Clone will not read a copywrited DVD, but the ripping tools overcome this.

I tried all of the weekend to get onto the "clone" website, but it was unavailable.

You might want to try this Utility[has 21 day trial period] and it works with CloneDVD and removes all encryption on the fly so you can just run your DVD copying software...
Software: AnyDVD
at: www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
Look under the 'Support' tab and it even recommends its use with CloneDVD..
Couple of good sites for help are:

www.cdfreaks.com <===ck-out their forum
Good Luck and let us know how you come out!!

Late last night I was looking at the tools and menus in "DVD" decrypter, and found an item which said "write" Ithen tried writing a DVD AND hooray, it wrote ok. It looks like I have no need to use clone at all.
The DVD copied was a comedy "Mars Attacks"
This morning I used "decrypter to copy "Mask of Zorro" to my hard drive. I have just tried to write it to DVD, but with all of the extras on the disc, it is too big, even though compressed.
My next venture is to try to remove the extras.
Many thanks for the help
