Hi I have a Logitech mouse man wheel for a while now. It a great mouse love using it. But recently it starting acting up. I mean by it wasnt as smooth moving as it was before. It would move kind of sluges at time and if I move it slow it would move like it was moving over rocks. Sometimes if I move it foward alittle it would cross all over the screen then come back. I thought the mousse was old so I went to buy a new one. Got a logitech worked fine smooth and everything, but really didnt liked the way it felt so I returned it. Decided to buy the same mouse I have over the net. Got the BRAND NEW mouse today pluged it in and its just like the old one. I deleted the old mouse from the device manager. Installed the software again still the same. I took my old mouse to my friends house works great on his pc. Did anyone ever have this problem? I would buy another mouse but I love the way this one feels when I play games. Also im using Windows XP.
Please help thanks

I've got the same mouse, I think. One thing I've noticed with all optical mice, they don't work well on a dark surface. You didn't recently change the surface you're working on by chance? Try taping a piece of plain white paper on the surface where you use the mouse and see if it improves the action at all. Just a thought.

Hmm... I have a wireless Optical mouse and the mouse-pad I have is black. I have two like that, one wireless the other not.
I've always found that it's a problem with the software, and I've always had problems ith logitech. I like HP and Microsoft. If all else fails. Reboot. Unless of course your processor is as slow as mine

I have a Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel, and I've experience the problem you described in only two situations:

1) Battery is low. Replacing it always fixes it. You may have missed the "battery is low" warning when it first came up.

2) Sometimes when I updated drivers, it restarted with wacky default settings, like super low mouse sensitivity, or really low mouse acceleration. Going into the MouseWare program that comes with the drivers and adjusting things manually fixed it.

i have the logitech MX700, and this mouse kicks so much ass i love it. i HIGHLY recommend it. plugged it in and it worked fine from the start, where as the microsoft optical i originally had wouldnt work. Also i thought laser opticals only worked on dark surfaces lol.....im pretty sure its the white surface they dont work on. but i might be wrong

They don't work on RED surfaces - and highly reflective surfaces.
