Wondered if anyone has had this happen before: At work I had three pcs on a small hub and no activity lites; swapped hubs and got activity on two out of three. Swapped out the net cable and all working now. Can a damaged cable take out a hub? (the hub was a 4port $30 cheapie)

I suppose anything's possible, but not normally. People commit all sorts of atrocities to hubs/switches and they normally survive. :D

I would doubt that the cable was at fault. You could possibly have had a lighting strike that would take out the cable and the hub. Tip: throw away your hubs and replace with switches.
