prints a character at startup ejects page

My printer now prints the same character at the top of the page then ejects the page when I start up the computer.
sometimes it happens randomly while the computer is running.

This started after trying to install a firewall on our other networked computer. Which successfully blocked the other computer from printing to this networked printer. So the firewall was removed. and thats wehn it started doing it.

Windows XP
HP 932C
the other computer is windows 98
