Internet connection Sharing Problem

Hi again

Got the two computers recongnising each other now but still got a problem with sharing our internet connection.

We are on AOL at the moment. The server computer has AOL and internet Connection Sharing on but the other computer will not go onto the Internet.

Networking through a hub now a lot easier.

Can anyone help with why I can't connect the second computer to the Internet.

Tell us what kind of System you got and OS do you use on both Comps.

Are you on dial-up? If so you need to run ICS (requires WIN98 SE and above) or some other proxy server. If broadband you need a router or a second IP address from your ISP provider.

You can share an AOL connection only with an AOL approved router. Linksys makes such an animal.

I switched my ISP from AOL to SBC Yahoo because I only found this out after I purchased my Microsoft wireless router.

What version of Windows is on the internet connection sharing host, what are you trying to use to share it (ICS or a 3rd party proxy), what version AOL is on the host, and is this dialup or broadband?

It is possible to have limited sharing, but we need to know these details to advise you.

I have a similar problem with AOL, to answer the question both PC"s have Win XP. I was trying to use ICS, how can I use a 3rd party proxy? Version of AOL is 9.0 optimized. Dial-up

I have a friend with the same problem but she is using a router and AOL 7.0 because she says her old comp cant support 9.0. The internet is working on her old computer but not the new one she just bought.
