Hey,

I recently began playing rise of nations, and for some reason my frame rate is dropping to 40 frames per second when i move my cursor over semi largely populated cities. I know this cause of the little built in frame counter which you can enable. Is this normal for this kind of game? I thought my pc could easily keep up fast frame rate for this kind of game.

By the way the frame rate never goes above 60 and now and then white artifacts will go across the screen. What should I do? My specs will post when I do. Thanks.

hey, i dont know what v-sync is. All I know how to tweak my card is with the little nvidia program thing which the card installed into my taskbar panel in the bottom right hand corner. It controls anti aliasing and other stuff, but i was getting these problems even when it was all turned off. What should I do?

Right-click your desktop>Properties>Settings>Advanced>Click the 'Ti xxxx' tab, and make sure under Direct3D properties v-synch is set to 'Always Off', or 'Always Disable'. What is the refresh rate of your monitor set at?

Hey,

I found the v-sync under the open gl tab and turned it off. I hadn't thought about the monitor refresh rate. It was on 60 and I've turned it up to 85 now, so it should do better. Thanks, I'll try running the game later and I'll get back to you if nothing changes.

Ok, I played the game real qucik to check the frames and I'm now getting up to 85 when I'm just panning over buildings, but it's dropping down to 40 when I pan over any kind of action. What else should I do?

I've never played RON; is it a performance hog?

Depends on the action . When ya have 8 players going at it , it gets kinda hectic when everyone attacks at the same time.:D

I have:
S3 Graphics's ProsavageDDR. w/ 32mb
Pavillion laptop zt1155
Pen 4 w/ 1.1 Mhz & 250ram , 10 Gb hard.
VIA Chipset(?)

Wow, how did you find this? lol, this is pretty old. My problem ended up being that my psu was a piece of you know what and I replaced it. Turned out my vid card wasn't getting the juice it needed and wasn't producing the quality or performance it should have been with game. Looks like you dont meet the requirements for the game. Even though this game looks simple, it eats a lot of resources. More people here can give you more help.

Contactkoh, I'd say your computer just doesn't have the system requirements for the game
