I found a lot of headsets with mics, but most of them also have the earpiece for sounds. Is there a manufacturer that only sells the microphone that goes over the head?

i dont quite understand...
So do you want a headset (mic/headphones) or a standalone?

BTW: if you are planing to use if for serious gaming like CS, MOHAA, HL, BF1942, AA, etc., you want a headset (mic/headphones), in my opinion, speakers arnt as good. Even those fancy 5.1 speakers, they are good 'n all, but headset ownz all. You dont see Ksharp from Team3d (CS Clan) settin up some speakers at the CPL Finals ;-) lol

I want a headset mic but withought the earphones. I would use headphones but I do not want to damage my hearing (more). I just want the mic. I found one that is the mic and headphones, but I put it around my neck and just bring up the mic. But I would rather have the headset mic, but no earphones.

I would have top second the concern about the damage to the ears. A acquantance friend of mine me and my bud jobs as ushers for the concerts in the SF bay area. It was great! We started with the Psychedleic Furs show which we wanted to see but there were no tickets. It was at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley which is pretty small, all we had to do was show people to their seats, no security duties etc.

After the main act comes on we were released to pretty much go where we wanted (not back stage though). Free Concerts! , we were doing at least one a week, sure you had to work some bands you did not like, but you could leave once they came on. We ended up in fifth row seats for Yes once.

After a couple of shows and the ringing I got some good earplugs. My firend thought I was a wimp. We pretty much worked the same number of shows before we both had too much else going on to keep doing it. Now when I go over his place I notice that he has the volume on everything set pretty loud, I turn- say the TV - down and I get a "Hey I can't hear it!" I can hear it fine

Hearing is way to cool to lose.....and the damage is not somehing that shows up right away, If you get ringing you have flatened some of the hairs in your inner ear. The ringing is them stuck on "on" , most of them come back up, most of them is not all of them.

Anyway, hows about dictaton micropohones, have you looked at them? To avoid the headphone aspect look for "tie clip"

I guess I'll just stick with my CAs. It has one earphone and I put it around my neck anyway. people can hear me clearly. I think this is actually more comfortable than it being on my head.
