I say Windows 98SE because I'm not too sure if it will work for the original 98.

This is something I stumbled upon when I was changing wallpapers. You can view one picture when it starts up, and then the second one loads when the desktop is completely loaded. I think it's cool to do because then you don't get so bored with your wallpaper.

I assume the reader knows how to change his/her wallpaper.

(Make sure you are viewing your desktop as a web page. Right click on the desktop, then chose Active Desktop and then View As Web Page)

Choose a .bmp picture for wallpaper. Click apply. Then, choose a .jpg. It's that easy. Now when you reboot your computer, it will show the .bmp first, then the .jpg when the desktop is completely loaded.

I always considered that an annoying bug, not a feature, but it does work in the original 98 as well.

My only complaint about something like that is I get machine after machine across the bench where the active desktop has screwed up and you keep getting that stupid recovery screen. Active desktop is one of the first things I disable on a system that comes across the bench... I agree... I think its a bug.. not a feature.

Yeah I agree, I always hated active desktop. But when I first read his post, sounded like he was talking about logo.sys files.
