I just picked up a D-Link DI-614+, mostly to tinker with, and perhaps eventually give to my daughter for wireless access for her place. I currently have an SMC7004AWBR wireless router.

My cable service is 1500/256, and I have a Toshiba PCX1100U cable modem.

The problem is that the D-Link is painfully slow on the downlink side for some reason! At DSL-Reports, I normally get in the 1200-1500 range for my downlink speeds, which is what I'd expect with my cable service. The D-Link yields about 50-100k downlink speeds, and it actually runs the uplink faster at 150-200k. I've cruised through all the setup options in the D-Link, and I don't see anything that jumps out at me to kill the performance. I have the latest 3.20 firmware in the unit.

Does anyone here have this router, and what have your results been?

That's really slow. My sister has that same type of Router and her Download Speed is 724 kbps and upload is 137 kbps via Fast 10/100 Ethernet NIC. And yet she is using DSL not Cable. No firmware update made yet. Just used the CD Software that came in with it almost a year ago.

There is certainly something amiss, since I can connect my old SMC or a GigaFast that I have in the closet and get normal speeds. I've changed the firmware version, reset it a bunch of times, disabled a lot of the options, changed the MTU size, etc... Still slow! :(

What kind of D-Link DI-614+ you've got? The REV.
A (two horns) or REV. B (one horn)? Although they got the same Model number their Firmware is not interchangeable.

I have the rev B, and I did use the correct firmware. :) I took it over to a friend's place with a Motorola SB4100 modem, and it still sucks in speed. I think it's a hardware issue with the WAN port, it's going back to D-Link.
