I just put windows xp on my computer, i don't remember it asking me to put in any password just asked to put in a user name. Anyway, now when i get to the login screen i have my name and the adminsrator-i have no idea what the password for either is so i can't do anything. Is there a default password that im not aware of, or a way around this..PLEASE HELP!

it sounds like an 1D10T Error. ha ha Just kidding. No really im kiddin. Just press cancle it should work. Or you accedently hit a key and it has a wierd password and you should re install. Also try going thru the admin logon see if that gets you any where you can also try safe booting it.

Thanks for the help guys. It was an upgrade from Windows 98 and i'm assuming it still keeps the same passwords from that? Anyway, it was an old system with a 6 gb HD so i reformatted the HD and did a fresh install. Now everything works again. Thanks guys :)

a clean install is a happy install its the best way to go as the upgrade path can produce problems in the long run
