View Full Version : Two drives as one in windows XP
Is it possible to make two drives, a 15 GB slave and a 20 gb master both seagate, to looks and work as a single 35 gb drive? I need this to capture video in AVI format. if possible, will this slow performance?

You can do that if you have XP Pro by creating dynamic disks.
Is there a good guide out there?

This (http://www.techtutorials.com/tutorials/xp/xpdiskmanagementtool.shtml) may be useful.

it is posable but if one drive failes then you can lose all data on both drives so keep a good backup on cdrw
How will this slow down the system, I need this for real time AVI video capture from VHS.

I don't know if it will slow down the system much. This is essentially JBOD, and all that means is that it will fill the first drive with data until it is full, and then move onto the next drive. However, it will appear as one volume to you.
If you are looking for speed, then you will need another version of RAID, like drive striping.
