Hey, I finally got my gamecube hooked to my comp through svideo in, and to run it i use a TV Player. Two problems, one, the quality at full screen or just medium screen is pretty bad, how do I fix that? Secondly, how do I hook up audio for the gamecube? Do I need an adapter or something? Thanks

i am not familiar with gamecube but i will assume that has a proprietary connection on the gamecube side, and male RCA jacks on the other (white and red). assuming this, go to your local radio shack (or place like it) and purchase a female RCA to eigth inch adapter like this (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F003%5F001%5F010&product%5Fid=274%2D369). Plug it into your mic or line in (preferably line-in), open sound control, pump the volume on line-in or mic, depending on which you picked, and you should be all set. hope that helps

like i said, i am assuming that the gamecube goes to RCA jacks on the tv side hookup. unless you have a sound card that will accept that type of connection, you will need to convert to 1/8" (like on headphones). chances are you cannot go straight in with your sound card, but i may be wrong. if you post a pic of your sound card or give me a model, i will let you know.

i have no idea why the video quality is so low. have you tried messing with the settings. i watch tv on my pc, have a vcr connected, and watch movies all the time. are you going s-video in or are you going composite video in? if s-video, then i assume you are using an adapter. if you can go straight composite in, try that and bypass the adapter. sometimes the s-video to composite adapter reduce quality. also, try another cable if you have one. it may be a bad cable.

hope that helps

just wondering, what IS composite? I had to use an adapter to get my svideo cable from my gamecube into the back of my pc, maybe thats the problem?

composite video is the yellow connector in the thing coming out of the gamecube. so you have something like this, right?
gamecube (composite video) -> composite to s-video adaptor -> computer. if this is the case, make sure you are using the yellow connector out of the back of the gamecube and not the red or white. hope that helps. if possible, cout you post a pic of the cable, or a link to where i can see one so i don't have to keep assuming things. like i said, i have never seen a gamecube, and i amjust guessing it is like most other connections.

oh, im using an svideo cable directly from my gamecube (not the composite), connecting that to some sort of adapter that i think changs svideoout to in(?) and then connecting that to the comp.

like a gender changer? that should not effect the quality unless it is a bad adapter. have you tried a different cable or tried the adapter on a different system (i.e. dvd on television) to rule out bad cable or bad adapter. those are the first things i would try. what software are you using to play the game on your computer? i am at school right now, but i will think about some other options while i am taking my test next period. stupid bess, blocks everything gaming so it is hard to look up info for you, sorry. when i get home i will update.

I also have a gamecube, from what I've read your useing the s-video cable that you had to buy seperatly because the game cube comes with the rca cable, right?
What brand of cable did you buy, some brands are better than others. If your useing a cable not made by nintendo that could be the problem, I've heard of blury screens useing other brands of cable before.

hmmm.. ill look for the brand name, it was 9.99, there was one for 39.99 which was called MonsterCables or something like that, I wanted to get that but the guy who worked there said that it didn't matter, that the 40 dollars one was just for HDTVs. You would think that any svideo cable would look better than the regular rca cable though =\ i think that just hooking it up to a computer might reduce the quality, if i use the svideo on a tv it looks good. Im just wondering if anyone has done this before and knows if there are settings that i have to change to get it to look nice or something?

Soon I'll have my new vid card and I'll hook up my gamecube and see if I have the same problem.

ok thanks, just wondering, what brand vid card is it? And when you get it, if you get it to work, can you tell me the exact steps you did to hooking it up correctly? Thanks

I was just looking at my gamecube and I noticed a small sticker that says "Graphics powered by ATI". It could be that only ATI cards can view it properly.
