My Pioneer DVD-ROM will not stay in DMA mode. In fact, I can no longer get it into DMA mode. It has never stayed in DMA mode for more than one reboot. I cannot use it. What is wrong with it?

Maybe it doesn't support DMA. How old is it? What kind of IDE cable are you using? Do you have other optical drives that support DMA?

The drive is new. It is a Pioneer DVD-120. I have a Plextor CD-RW that is using DMA. I contacted Microsoft and they concluded that Easy CD Creator was the problem. They had me uninstalll it and make some registry changes and it was in DMA mode again. But tonight it is back in PIO mode!!! I installed Nero 6 tonight. Could it be doing the same thing that Easy CD Creator was?
