ok,
i've just bought a new asus a7n8x deluxe mobo rev.4.04
it's running a 2600+ barton amd and 1x 512mb ddram TakeMS pc3200 400mhz
when i boot the system the voice says :
System failed memory test ..
it's plugged in how it must be...ichecked it multiple times..i am also sure it's in bank n°1 :/
in windows (w2k) it's recognized as 523.760 kb ram
the system boots normally ..games and application all go very well and fast ...
Should i worry about this memory ..can it be it's not been tested by asus or so? so the mobo doesn't immediately recognize it???

Go to Simmtester.com and download DocMemory to test your RAM with.
Or you could try booting to Safe Mode. If the RAM is faulty, you'll get an error message.

hhmm , i'll try that out..
although i have to say..
this is first memory every i buy which is non-apacer and i'm almost immediately having probs with it :/ ..tho it seems to work fine..the message i find troubling cause..that voice that isthe bios-confirmation , no? or maybe it's just like the tools that come with the mobo..they also don't seem to be that accurate on measuring the temps and all ...
well, i'll try it out and let u know ;)

I have the same problem that you have... except I'm using a barton 2800 and ocz el-ddr dual chan kit 2X256Mb pc3200... when I try to get the speed up to 200Mhz it says system failed memory test and won't even boot... The only way I found to get rid of that msg is to use standards settings of my cpu. That means no oc at all. But I sometimes get that msg again but it boots up... If you find a way to get that thing fixed let me know!

hhmm , well i didn't oc it ..
but i did the test ..all turned out well...
strange is that now suddenly the voice-message is gone ..
so i still don't know what was the cause...i didn't change anything yet :s
i really dunno what it was ..but since u mention oc..
one of the first times it booted ( it's first day) ..i had got the message something like :
your cpy has been overclocked..pls restart for default setting ...
or something near that...so then i did do that..
but it's so weird, since i even didn't open my bios yet ..so i didn't change that neither :/
well , it's over ..i don't have the message anymore :)
could it be that my mobo left the manufacturer with oc'ed settings???..in the manual it says ..
mobo for cpu-use of 3000+ & more ...and since i have a 2600+ ...???????????? ..would be good to know for next times...

mobo for cpu-use of 3000+ & more ...and since i have a 2600+ ...???????????? ..would be good to know for next times...
means that this mobo is able to take a 3000+ that's all.
good that you didn't oc...
if you got that cpu overclocked voice msg it's because you probably started your pc to see if it was working then u stoped it by turning off the switch of the psu?
If you wanna make sure ur mobo is running with a perfectly new bios and brand new settings just reset ur cmos. You can do so by looking in your manual to find the jumper for the cmos. It's next to the battery to it's right and take off that battery to... wait 10 minutes... 2 would probably but wait for 10. Then reseat the battery and jumper and power it up.

maybe stupid question but:
the manual says : 3000+ & more ..
how can i ever know how high i can get?? ..3200+ works according to the shop i bought it..
but will next generation XP proccessors also work then?

You'll most likely need a BIOS flash for any processors past the 3200+.
