Two basic questions - I see that recommendations are to move Temporary folder files onto a separate partition. I have moved my TIF's but how do I best move Temp files in XP?
Also what about Recent?

Also - and I know this is basic - can I justy move all my other files (Data, progs etc) by simply dragging to the new partitions? What about file associations for example.

I am using Patitionmagic 8.0

Personally, I have found moving the Page file (virtual memory) to a separate partition to be more performance enhancing than moving temp files. I delete all temp files along with all but the most recent restore point before each defrag of the os hard drive. Here's a little insite into the page file thing.

I just delete my temp files too after a little while, they aren't used after a few restarts anyway (ie. DirectX leaves its install file there after install, after the computer has restarted and DirectX is properly installed the install file stays there taking up space on your hard drive)

Move your swap file if you must, but no you CANNOT simply drag and drop program folders from one hard drive to another and expect them to work. This is due to calls from the program to the registry which will obviously then tell the program to look on the original drive for the files it needs. No can do

You can quite happily move your documents and pictures etc over to another drive however

About once a month you can delete the contents of your prefetch folder to speed boot up too, right?
