After switching the position of the Wireless router connected to the cable modem, I noticed a slowdown on my computer upstaris despite a 100% link signal. I tested it on a several speed site (mcaffee, otponline, dslreports, and some broadbnad site) that all read in the range of 100-250 killobits. The connection is a 1.5 megabit one, and showed that before this move for the laptop's terrible signal receiving range.
There's no adware or the like, neither is there viruses, cleaned my history and cache and the like for ie and firebird... i really don't wanna reinstall the o/s. any explanation people?
You have the wireless equipment anywhere near a 2.4 GHz cordless phone? Is the wired computer still doing full speed?

We have nothing that i know of that can interrupt the transmission of the signal (other than the microwave, which disrupts internet lol...) I do not know if wired computers will still do full speed, because its in the laundry room, and theres no place to put a computer. Can it be the extra length of coaxial cable?
Plug the laptop into the router with CAT5 and see what it does.

alright... I have finally gotten around to do that coupled with sporadic and mysterious internet disconnects. Indeed, the laptop is operating at full speed when wired to the router, though .5 a megabit slower than the supposed speed. I never thought this might be a hardware problem though.

It is the router's wireless broadcasting then... can I still return it for refund or is the warranty quite short?
