any suggestions for wanting to transfer files from my system to a friends system over the net......something really basic. friends are only mildly literate when it comes to proggies so make it simple,......

why not open a free Yahoo Briefcase acount...you can upload you files, and your friend can login to your account and download them. simple, easy and free.

I haven't used it, but it looks like it could be what you want.
I don't think VNC supports file transfers, it's just a remote control app. You could run a FTP server, log into his computer with VNC, and work his FTP client though.
AIM and ICQ work as well as anything though.

why not use MS NetMeeting? isn't it on most windows computers? i'm not sure if it supports file transfers tho
