Cubs disapoint again

Gotta say nobody looses like the cubs. I'm watching expecting a win instead they allow 8 runs. If they loose tommorow I'm burning my cubs hat tired of seeing blown leads and stupid mistakes.

The fans didn't help much either, Cubs could have had an out on that foul ball. Not sure if it would have helped though.

Ive always wondered what people were talking about when they said "that curse of the billy goat", but man, I was amazed tonight, I was rubbin it in my friends face, because Im a firm believe that the Marlins will ALWAYS screw up when the win is on the line, ALWAYS....but when that fan screwed up the out, and then the shortsop dropped that easy catch...My jaw dropped, I was amazed FL won...but Im still confident they will lose tomorrow, so dont worry:)

The curse of the goat was transferred to Houston the last week of the regular season, but it returned tonight in the form of a 12 year old kid.

Yeah, that guy screwed up an awesome play. Alou had his glove right on that ball. Screws with the Cubs World Series chances all for a stupid ball.

I think if he had grabbed that ball, it would have ended up 2-3 or 3-3 at the end of that inning. Instead, they had to bring in Farnsworth, who sucks in pressure situations.

Hopefully Wood has a little majic left for tonight.

Whoever it was - security had to haul him out with a towel over his head, he was getting serious beer baths and threats. I also heard that they got the wrong guy the first time. It got pretty ugly, that part wasn't shown on national TV but the local Fox affiliate had some footage on the news after the game.

Maybe so, but honestly, if you were in that guy's spot, would you have done any different? I have never seen a home team fan not reach for a ball just because the home team player could catch it. Fans usually aren't thinking that strategically, and for it to have made a difference, every single fan in the area would have had to have kept from lunging for the ball. Since when has a large group of fans in the path of a hit baseball ever just sat on their hands and watched?

I read an article that said that Alex Gonzalez should send that guy a large sum of money, because if the Cubs lose, everybody will blame the fan. However, Gonzalez's screwing up of the bouncer to him that loaded the bases is the real nail in the coffin. After all, it is Gonzalez's job to get that out; it's not the job of a fan to figure out whether grabbing for a loose ball is going to help his team or not.

this play shows a serious weakness in the coaching/managing staff of the Cubs. this play got them all distracted and upset and (as the loss shows) defintely affected their focus and performance.

The manager should have gotten out the mound and quickly held a meeting to settle them all down. the game was not over by any strectch when this happened. This is going to happen to teams that don't have a lot of post season experience as a unit. They are all nervous as hell being there, couple that with the fact that they have not made a WS appearance since the beginning of time.

I think that the play made the Cubs start believing that the curse was true. Once they believed the curse, it became true. Mark Prior throws a wild pitch the next at bat, then the error. I don't know how you can blame the manager except maybe for leaving Prior in too long.

It really started in the 7th inning stretch with Bernie Mac sang.

I don't think the guy had any idea what was going on all he saw was a ball coming at him and a bunch of people reaching for it. That was a great game but after that foul ball it just went downhill. Cubs will take it in the next game

Exactly. the job of a manager is to keep his players focused on the task at hand, not focusing on any curses that may be floating around...focus on the task at hand and the task will be taken care of.

To me that is easier to do in Football and Basketball than in Baseball. I really couldn't think of anything that Dusty Baker could have done to stop that runaway train. His merit as a manager will more come into play tonight. Will he get the players believing that they can win and break the curse? Will he? So how should he have calmed his players, by ESP maybe? He can't call a timeout and have everyone come over to the sidelines.

Should be an interesting game tonight. I am sure that FOX is thrilled to have this game tonight. Should have good ratings.

No, but he could have argued the call and bought some time that way. Arguing the call wouldn't have overturned it, but it may have helped by essentially closing the issue and allowing the players to take a break and refocus for a bit.

WTF how can you loose a 3 game to 1 lead. Cubs are a waste of talent they should dismantle this team tear down the stadium forget they ever existed. Watching them will just leave you feeling bad and dissapointed

I think everyone jumping on that fan is total BULL, how ERROGENT, and STUPID do you have to be to say that some fan rooting for his team, or some lame curse is whats keeping you from winning??? It couldnt be that the other team worked thier butts off to get where they are, it wouldnt be that they were thought of as nothing early in the season with a fan base that was practically none existant, but still gave everything they had in every game they played...no it couldnt be that...it was that fan and the stupid goat...yeah...

Mind you, this is all comming from someone who doesnt even like the Marlins...

While I was rooting for the Cubs to make it to the World Series at least they still are those loveable losers that everyone can relate to. :D

Maybe next year they'll get there and think of the bright side at least they're fielding a way better team than my bumbling Detroit Tigers.

Hopefully they can pick up a couple of better relievers in the off season, and use this terrible series as a little motivation for next year. The team as it stands right now should handle their division pretty well next season.

But why do you Cubs fans want that?

If the Cubs win, then they will be just another baseball team. All the magic will be lost. I don't care one bit about the Cubs, but I was watching the game last night to see how they would screw things up. Millions of people were probably doing the same thing. Their losing history is the hook. "Cubs haven't won since 1908" sounds much cooler than "Yeah, we had a good year last year and won the Series, now let's see what happens this year." :D

The Cubs losing 3 in a row and 2 at home was pretty unreal,And Sad I have to say as a Fan..
They just plain choked and have no one to blame but themselves,,I am with avx also,blaming that one fan is baloney and childish of the people who are doing and have done that.
