I know someones probably asked it before, but which do you like more, Macs or PC's? I personally like PC's, because any computer that smiles at you can't be good, you know it is secretly planning your demise.

Because this forum is oriented towards enthusiasts who like to build their own systems you'll find that the bias will be heavily towards PCs. That being said, I can see the merits of Macs, espcially their ease of use and aesthetics, but they're just way too expensive compared to what I can build myself.

In my own opinion I present:
Windows VS. Mac
Windows
Good
-Tons of applications
-Cheap hardware. Sometimes too cheap(think *PC Chips*).
-Powerful interface, like the right click menu, menus on the windows...
Bad
-Instability, especially with Windows 9x.
-Who decorated Windows XP? That blue is just so, terrible. Gives me nightmares... Sure, it can be reskined, but it doesn't get much better unless you use the classic skin.
Mac
Good
-Stable, very stable
-Powerful, for video editing
-High tech parts, most new Macs have cutting edge technology
-Beautfiul OS, if only it were more practical
Bad
-Proprietary hardware. Eh, no Intel(maybe this is a good point? :p )
-The *windows* in Mac are terrible. The buttons are very poorly labeled, took me a week to find out how to close a program "the easy way".
-Menu for everything at the top of the screen- took me ages to find out how to swtich between programs. Can Bill please let Steve copy some of the better parts of the Windows OS?
I think Mac has the potential to be better.

Without a doubt there is definately a void's worth of space for improvment. Thoughthis new OSX Panther looks promising. ;)

These debates remind me of two fat boys showing each other their thumb nail and screamings : Mines bigger!

lol, I had long since forgotten about that thead :p
What the heck, it's been a while since a good Mac/PC debate came up. It's better than the Intel/AMD debate, since we all know the answer to the Mac/PC debate :D

We just need the ultimate debate: IBM vs. Intel vs. AMD

Macs had a huge advantage years ago in terms of computing power, Applications, and ease of use. This was especially true in the field of Desktop Publishing (one of my old professions). But that's no longer true today. Therefore, it's sensless to spend the extra $$ on a Mac IMO. And this is coming from a former hardcore Mac user (me).

But Apple did consider AMD when IBM wasn't produceing a good chip- Apple really should switch to an AMD design. :)

That's good but let's keep the discussion equal with the manufactures market share, 80% of the discussion on Intel, 17% on AMD and the other 3% we'll just forget about.

So that's the current market share, huh?
Somehow I think AMD is a little higher than that. ;)

Ok you caught me, I rounded down on the overall share with both AMD and Intel. :D

Apple has painted itself in a corner. If it adopted X86 architecture, it would lose its customer base.
They may become like Harley Davidson. Harley is a niche market that is doing quite well. But it's no longer a technological marvel, and hasn't been for some time. But if they try to use plastic, etc. people would quit buying them.

Macs are too confusing to sue in my opinion.
