My system:

Intel Pentium4 2.4GHz 800MHz FSB
Gigabyte 8IPE1000Pro (rev1) mobo (Intel 865PE chipset)
Seagate 80GB SATA HD
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600Pro
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM/48X CD-ROM
Lite-On 52X/32X/52X CD-RW
Dell UltraSharp 1800FP 18'' LCD (connected w/ DVI cable)

I'm having all kinds of strange issues. First, certain entries are listed twice in System->Hardware->Device Manager:

Processors:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40Ghz
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40Ghz

Display Adapters:
RADEON 9600 SERIES
RADEON 9600 SERIES SECONDARY

Monitors:
Dell 1800FP(Digital)
Dell 1800FP(Digital)

I have one CPU, one monitor, and one video card; I do not want any kind of dual-monitor support. I'm running Catalyst 3.8 drivers if that helps...

More troublesome, the sound card is not recognized and I'm unable to install the Creative Labs drivers for it because

"Setup could not find any previous version of Sound Blaster Audigy 2 WDM Drivers installed."

Please help!!

Was this an upgrade from a previous windows version, or a motherboard swapout??
I would suggest going into that device manager and where you have duplicate entries, uninstall the one that is not flagged or if neither is flagged than uninstall the original one, sounds like you did an upgrade....You may want to show hidden devices and check for flagged and duplicate entries also...

The CPU listed twice is correct as you have a Hyperthreaded CPU... it appears to the system that you have two CPU's instead of one. As for the rest of the double entries, boot to safe mode and go thru EVERYTHING and remove the everything with a double entry except the CPU. Boot normally and let it redetect everything.

I think the double entry for the video card may be correct if that Radeon supports two monitors.

Hmm, HT does explain why the CPU is listed twice...

Disabled the secondary Radeon 9600 entry and deleted the secondary monitor entry, seems to be fine now.

Audigy 2 drivers are another matter....any ideas?
