question on heatsinks

intels run fairly cool even with stock heatsinks. but do they use the same heatsink for like a 2.4c as they do for a 2.8c? if they do then nevermind but if they dont, would it be better to buy a nice brand name thermaltake or something, or just snatch up like a friends old heatsink from a more modern intel?

Only If you have been having heating problems or if you plan on overclocking your cpu would you need to buy a thermaltake.

the stock heatsink and fans do very well even when overclocking, no need for anything differant,

now if you live in a area where the advarge temp in your room was over 100 deg, then yes you would not even wnt to over clock then, with out getting a room air condintioner

yeah i know the heatsinks are good but are they the same ones? does the 2.4c come with the same heatsink as the 2.8c?

Yes they are the same.

They do use the same heatsinks, but a 2.4c would run hotter at 2.8 than a 2.8c would. Anyway, they are good HSFs and add that to the fact that the P4 chips don't have a big problem with heat, you can keep that stock HSF on there and OC your chip.

I built a computer for a friend using the trusty old P4 1.6B, and its running at a blazing 2.2GHz with the stock HSF. Its been running that way for just over a year, and he's had no stability or overheating issues.

My 2.4C@3.1 runs at the same temp as it would if it were running at 2.4 There should be no temp increase by OC'ing with the FSB.

The stock unit will cool but don't have much going for it in the way of eye candy for a window mod.
