I've actually been pondering using one of those larger Meridian (or similar) office phones for a mini-itx project. The only problem is finding a power suply that fits. Either the end up being too tall or too long.
Another option I've been looking at is a dead 2U Cisco switch that I have sitting around. That could be easily mounted under a desk, and the lighting mod possibilities are very tempting to go in this direction.

if you go to Nintendo PC (http://junkmachine.com/nintendo) they have sine tips there for fitting things in small spaces

Yeah, I think I need to reconsider, because I need something that will fit in a 40mm - 50mm high space along with all the other parts.
