I want to run linux, but I also want to be able to play DirectX games.
I know that Half-life will run under WINE, but WINE does not support Direct3D does it?
My question is...Is there a free version of WINE X that I could use to play Direct3D games on a linux system?

WineX will play most of the games (if not all) but you have to pay for it (it worths every cent though).
for half life, do you want to use d3d? opengl is better.

I do not feel that WineX is worth paying for, because I already have windows, which will run all of my games.
Does WINE support DirectX?

The thing is, I want to get away from Windows, but I am a casual gamer.
I want to play my games without Windows, but I don't want to pay extra to play games that I can currently play for free.
