I have two different laptops which I would like to upgrade. The old dinosuar that I would like to speed up is a Compaq Presario 700. It has an AMD Duron 896MHz with 240 MB Ram and a 20GB HD. It is way too slow. Is it possible to change the mobo, upgrade the cpu to AthlonXP, and install 512 MB Ram without spending too much? How much will it cost to do this if it's possible?

I also have a Dell Inspiron 8000 that has a P3 798MHz cpu with 128 MB Ram. It only has about 12 GB of Hard Drive. How far can I upgrade this pcu without changing the mobo? I am thinking of adding memory and more HD.

Anyone have suggestions on what to do with both of these laptops?

Another question: Can I switch the HD from the Presario with the HD in the Inspiron 8000? The old HD in the Presario holds more, but is it much slower retrieving the data?
