setup info?

I recieved my wireless router and I'm going to hook it up now, but I don't have all the setup information. Well at least I can't find it. I just tried talking to comcast and they were know help. Is there any way to find it on my computer?

also, I don't know if I have a static ip, dhcp, or PPPoE. How do I find this out because I don't know what they mean? Also what is a host and domain name?

Hi,

Go ahead and go to the computer that the cable connection was originally setup on (before the router):

Depending what OS you have:

If (win2k/XP):

Go to start, run, type cmd. Hit enter.

At the command prompt type: ipconfig /all

Scroll down until you see physical address of your NIC. Copy down this address.

If (win98/winME):

Go to start run, type: winipcfg Then hit enter.

Then look for the physical address of your NIC again. Copy down this address.

There should be an option in the router setup to clone a MAC address. When you get to that point, exchange the MAC address that's listed there, with the one you copied down. You'll probably have to reboot the router for the changes to take effect. HTH
