My first wireless setup had my base computer hard wired to the router and a laptop using the wireless.

I now want to move the base computer to a new location and run a hard wire (cat 5) from the Linksys wireless router to the moved PC.

From the location that I removed the existing Pc I want to install a new (upgraded) PC and use the existing Linksys to tie in with Cat 5

My question is now that I have moved the base PC (Server?) and now need to setup the new PC as the (Server?) What kind of adjustments or settings will I need to make

I'm using Windows XP pro with Linksys Wireless G router.

Thanks all

If you are using broadband and have a router, then there is no server, unless you setup a domain. You should be able to just plug the new PC in and configure it to access the internet via a LAN. The other computer that you are moving should just plug up and work fine without any changes

Would File sharing be an issue? I want to make sure all computers share files.

Yes it's broadband.

You can have file sharing on all PC's setup on a workstation. In short there is not need for a server or domain server. But for learning purposes or if you want to use roaming profiles then go ahead, just adds to what you need to do to get it to work. Benefit you learn more.

But for me, I have a total of 5 PC's:
3 are hardwired
2 are laptops that use wireless nic
Linksys router with a wireless access point attached to it.

I have file sharing on all PC's and one of the three I use as a backup PC/server where I dump all data to.

What OS are you going to be running on all of these computers? I think you said one was XP Pro. If I'm not mistaken, if all comps are running XP Pro, then file sharing should be easy. It's when you start trying to share files from a Win98 computer to an XP machine that it gets tricky. Get the comps setup, and if you have any questions, just come back and post.
