Would having DSL and dial up on the same line hurt anything? As long as I don't use the dial up while I have DSL? And also I know a POTS splitter filters out the DSL signals from the phone port, But does it filter out the phone signals from the DSL port or is it just unfiltered?

Actually, DSL and regular dial (POTS) coexist on the same line and can be used simultaniously. In point of fact, that's a claimed advantage of DSL, you don't need an extra phone line, you can use an existing line with no impact to normal service.

Thanks, And when you said dial you meant 56k dial up right?

DSL is transparent to other phone uses thru the use of the filters you mention. You can be online with DSL, and either on the phone or online with a dialup, regardless of speed (56K or slower). The filters filter out the DSL part.

It's right here: http://www.actiontec.com/products/broadband/usb_eth_homedsl/usb_eth_homedsl_overview.html
Install the Actiontec software.
The Actiontec monitor should appear as a pair of green arrows in the system tray. If you hold your mouse over the icon, it will read “Actiontec Home DSL monitor.”
Double-click the arrows to bring the monitor up to the screen.
Hold CTRL+P to open the diagnostic windows for the modem monitor. Here you’ll find SNR, Rx, and Tx information on the modem connection.
