would this be a good platform case (http://computerpartsusa.com/) for a first time computer builder? It is mainly because i wonna try to mod a computer case and didnt really wanna use an expensive one.

Do you mean the X Alien case? I've heard good things about, it is a bit more expensive comparing to the Antec line of cases...
Nice cases but like joe said there a bit pricey. Also check out xpcases.com for more of a variety of cases.
