The SATA drive doesn't have any jumper to set...only 1 device per SATA channel.

As far as you optical drives are concerned, if you're using a 40 wire IDE cable make the CD-RW the master and the DVD the slave. But if you're going to use a 80 wire IDE cable, set the drive jumpers to CS and put the CD-RW on the black connector and the DVD on the grey connector.

Thanks Cricket!!!! hey how about if I want to use a scsi hdd?
please understand I do not have much experience putting pc together, the only system I've done is an old 486 very simple hdd and flopy! I have been doing lot of reading on the other forums about SATA hdd and SCSI. I thought the SATA was the way to go, now I am not so sure!!!

SCSI is a whole different ballgame with its own unique jumpering and cabling scheme. As I said in your other thread, SCSI is overkill (and costly) for what you are trying to do, SATA or even traditional PATA (IDE) is plenty good.

Let's talk about hard drives in the hard drive thread. The optical drives will go on standard IDE no matter what you go with for hard drives.
