I know everyone will say round but what brand? I have two wd 80gb 8mb cache and two lite-on optical drives (one cd burner and one 16x DVD). So I need to know the best brand off of new egg and the best brand for flat cables as well; because I am thinking about getting flat cable, and cutting them and wrapping them with shrink wrap. Then only reaslon for this is because I have read in places that flat are better than round as far as data transfer goes.

I personally don't think one brand is any better than the next.

I have been reluctant to use round cables. Check out this thread to find the reason why:

I use the flat cables that come with motherboards and drives, and I fold them neatly and tie them off.

I picked up some round cables at a computer show. I like them as I find them easier to work with inside the case. I don't know that they have any other advantages other than looks if you have a case with a window.

I have round cables for one reason only.. they gave me the extra 1/4 inch I needed to get from the IDE controller at the bottom of the motherboard to the DVD drive in the top of my tower.
As for better air flow... cable folding can be made into an art... I can tie up the cables so tight and neat that I'm sure you get better flow than the round cables... and believe it or not.. when I'm done.. it will look better too.... I really gotta get a picture of one of those jobs one of these days to post.

With IDE HDD's I use round cables for looks, I've seen no temp change from ribbon to round. I gotta say though I really like the SATA cables they are nice, neat and clean too bad only one device per cable. :(

I use the cable that is shiped with my motherboard. they work fine!!!
I don't think brand differences are crucial with these.

Weren't some of your pictures up before. Those were sick. I don't like handiling the roudn cables, they have to much spring in them. But they look better.
