confusion between cd Writing???

whats the difference between "Writing mode" and "Writing format" on a cd-rw? thanks in advance

There are 2 ways to use a CD-RW. First way is just burn it like a CD-R. Second way is called "packet writing" which is formatting it to use like a giant floppy disk. Either way, it can be erased and reused.
