Ok, we think we have heard it all... turn a case into a toilet, into a freezer, into an aquarium

But... whilst mine isnt as wacky as that it is kinda funky

I want to make a case that runs like a lava lamp!

How i do this i have no idea, its gonna be a lot of heat so i dont know if it is worth it but do we think it could be done?

I dont quite get your idea but are you thinking about turning the entire case into a lava lamp??

Unless you put a lava lamp right on the CPU, the heat generated from the system as a whole wouldn't be nearly enough, Even if you attached it to the CPU, where would the heat go after the lamp is fully heated?

just do like a lava lamp affect on the side. like how most people have a window. Just make like a double layer window with the "lava" between the 2 windows, like how they did with the aquarium pc, use something other than your pc to provide the heat tho or you'll burn it up. Use a seperate heat source and put watercooling on your cpu. Maybe it could work.

Yes... very simple

Now what you mean?

That idea is probably the most probable one to work. You would have to do some research on what lava lamps are made of. It's a mixture of alcohol and a few other liquids, I believe, in addition to the wax.

For a large lava lamp (about 1ft high glass) a clear 40W bulb is used. A cold cathode would work for a light, but you need some way to heat it up. Probably in the 120'F range.

This looks promising: http://bradley.bradley.edu/~campbell/lavalamp.html

The larger the area for the lava lamp, the more heat it needs, and when it comes to computers, heat=bad.

Its definatley possible but its gonna take a large amount of heat on the side of the case you want to do it on, and your gonna need more than air cooling on your cpu, video card, and NB so you'll want water cooling on those. I dont think it would be hard to do tho once you figure out how your gonna actually mount the dual windows and supply the proper heat.

I've seen a case with a lava lamp in it.... would that satisfy your urge to mod? :)

Heres a case with one of those lightning balls in it:
