Hi Folks
I have just added a 2nd hard drive to my PC. It is a Maxtor 120gig. I formatted it and partitioned it with Maxblast 3
into 6 20gig sections. My question is did I do the right thing and also when I look at the disk via XP Home it reports that each partition is 18.7gig.

I have an AMD 2600 500Meg ram:
confused:

The 120GB drive is, in actuality,112.2GB. It's the way GB are figured. I think it is 1024MB to equal a GB.
I'm sure someone will post and explain the math.

Any particular reason you want 6 partitions? What you did is perfectly fine, but doesn't keep to the KISS principle.

I picked 6 partition for better management but I am open to advise on how best to manage this disk

Its rather mathimatical, but it has to do with a discrepancy in the microsoft definition of gigabyte and the hard drive manufacturers definition

Keep It Simple, Stupid! :D

Management is totally up to you, however it's most comfortable.

Oh, how stupid of me not to know the KISS principle!! :p Now knowing what KISS means I can totally agree with GLC, on keeping things simple to you, the user. Whatever makes you happy!
