Hi all,

I'm looking for some classical music, specifically choral works. For example, I really enjoy Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Are there any other classical composers that wrote great choral works (some of which might be used in movie previews for instance)? Also, does anyone know of any classical music composers that wrote middle eastern music? Thanks in advance.

Duel of the fates by John Williams :p

I dunno...I can't really think of any classical music with vocals.

Flops,

I can thoroughly reccommend the works of Thomas Tallis (especially Mass for Four Voices), also William Byrd.

Don't let the fact that it's 16th Century church music put you off - it's both beautiful and dramatic!

Available in U.K. on a very good budget label called Naxos

If ya liked Carl Orf and O-Fortuna (I have the tecno remix too ) then Basil Poledouris will knock your socks off with ANVIL of CROM and the rest of the Conan sntrk :D :D :D

Thanks guys I will check those out. I did get a chance to listen to John William's "Duel of the Fates", and I liked that one. Is there any other music out there that's similar to this (by John Williams or other composers)? Also does anyone have any idea on middle eastern classical (symphonic) music? Thanks again.

He did the music to Chrono Trigger too...the music from that game is some of the best classical music IMO (the orchestrated versions composed by him, not the actual in-game versions).

oooo look for final fanasy songs for sure... especially the intro in the ff8 is reallly nice

Phillip Glass, Robert W. Smith, Elliot Del Borgo are some symphonic composers. The last two are not really world famous, but Robert W. Smith is known fairly well locally.

I'd probably have to say John Williams is one of the Kings of symphonic music. He's done so much in the way of music for many decades.

You may also want to check out some music by Howard Shore as well. He seems to use a lot of choral backgrounds.
