A computer came to me with Norton Internet Security(NIS) 2003 installed. NIS was coming up with errrors, so I uninstalled, and reinstalled it. Worked good, until i ran Live Update. After it ran, the computer reboots. Then it was in a perpetual state of reboot. It would only get as far as the welcome screen. I did a system restore from safe mode, and it didn't help. I picked an earlier date, and now it gets into Windows, but locks up right away.
The system is clean of Spyware (or at least it was before the system restore, that probably undid SpyBot's work). The system should be clean of viri, but I cannot be certain. Do you think it sounds like a virus problem? That's what I would blame, but it was working good before the Live Update. Do you think NIS damaged the registry somehow?
I also went through msconfig, and unchecked some unneccesary stuff.
The system was 'tuned-up' before running Live Update, and then it went downhill. Thanks for your replies.
