Hi all,
I went ahead and installed the WmWeather+ Dock app today on my Mandrake 9.1 system. The problem is, the Dockapp shows up in the upper left hand corner, but I can't move it. The only error I can see is this when I try to right click on it (there should be a menu popping up when you do this, yet that also doesn't seem to work):
/bin/sh: line 1: xless: command not found
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any ideas? I would just like to be able to move this thing around my desktop, but it's not working. Thanks in advance.

I would be happy to install that and try to trouble shoot it myself but I have not figured out how to use the .tar files yet.
I downloaded it maybe I can get it going.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The file is actually a tar.gz file (gz = gunzip)
So to untar and unzip it you would issue the following command:
tar -xvzf filename
Thanks again for the help.

I downloaded it and unpacked it.
how do you install it ?

Go inside the unpacked directory.
From the command prompt you can do this with the cd command (cd = change directory)
Just type cd and then the path to the wmweather+ folder.
eg.
cd /home/username/wmweather+/
Once in there issue this command:
./configure
(or just configure)
Once that's done (make sure all the dependencies are there), type:
make
after that's done:
make install
This should install the app.

Ok, go ahead and do a search for that package on google. You'll probably need both the regular and developer version. HTH

Hmmm, it never prompted me for a directory. What exactly does it say? Does it give you a default option? HTH

I am in the terminal, did the configure, did the make, then install, says too few paramiters
wants sourse, destination
type that in and it says it is a directory and don't do anything
need this to fight with the weather program after this is installed

Hi,
Just doublechecking, but after make, you did type "make install" right (not just "install")? If you choose the wmweather+ directory as the source and another as the destination, does it work? HTH

ok, I found out that I was supposed to me in the root mode when I did this.
looged in as root and everything worked fine.
now I need to learn how to get the program set up to be on the desk top.
I am sure that it is in the usr/din directory some where but have not looked for it yet.
I will continue this when I get home from school today.
by the way, I finally got the lan printer working too.

Right clicking on the desktop may (KDE will) give you the option to create a new link on desktop.

I think there's an applet called "kweather" which does pretty much the same thing and sits in the taskbar.
