I have been unable to use the system restore featue on Windows XP. No matter which date I choose to retore back to, the result is that I get a message that system restore was unable to restore back to that date.

There needs to be a restore point stored on the date you select. Is it showing a restore point available?

Yes, there were several restore points available, going back to at least mid-September. Regardless of which restore point I chose, the system restore would not work.

Well, andyms18a, I appreciate the information and really thought you had something there. I tried all of the suggested steps in the Microsoft Knowledgte Base Article, but nothing worked. All of the System Restore settings were correct and the appropriate drives were enabled, and I tried system restore in the Safe Mode a number of times. Again, it failed to restore.
Would you have any other ideas?

Do you have enough free space on your hard drive for Windows to store a restore point?

I have over 57 GB pf hard drive space available with a maximum of 8477 MB needed for a system restore.
