Hello,

I am having problems getting my computer to show any display with my old Video card(see below) and old monitor(see below). What happens is that it will boot up fine, everything is running, but no display and a LONG beep followed by 2 or 3 beeps. This just started to happen after about 2 months of perfect use. Also, I can swap out my video card with another card and another monitor and it runs fine. I've tried the monitor on another machine, and sometimes it will give a display, usually doesnt....but when it does it takes a while to come out of "sleep" mode. I've also tried my radeon card on another machine and got no results either. So im wondering did something happen to short out both the card AND the monitor?

I've been reading other similar issues here, if its the video memory on the card, how do I know if its bad or non compatible? I've already got a replacement monitor on the way...and ive tried to reach ATI to send the card back to no avail. Any suggestions/or help would be greatly appreciated. THANX!

Comp specs are: (Im at work so im doing this from memory, but pretty sure all is correct)

Soyo mobo p4X400 dragon Platinum editon w/Intel p4 2.8 processor
Corsair xms 1 gig (2 modules)
radeon 9200 128 mb
420 artec PSU
vs-190is KDS monitor

One long beep and two or three short beeps indicates a problem with the video card. If you have put the card in another machine and it doesn't work, and you have tried different monitors, I would assume that it is toast.

From what you describe, the monitor is probably failing too.

Unless you have a reason to believe that both are connected (such as experiencing a power spike or some other damage), the fact that both are failing is probably just a coincidence.
