Hello GLC and every one , It seems my CRS has turned into CRAFT, any how. Are all Athalon XP, barton chips? Or does the Barton start at a particular level??

Thanks all

yup, as usual hal is right, the only chips below 2500 that are not a barton are the 2600 and 2700, the 2600 is popular but not really sold a lot... and everyone think that the 2700 doesn't even exist since no supplier as them... but they exist.

A Barton has a cache of 512 kb and the others have 256 kb.
It is the most recent, and likely the last, iteration of a 32 bit processor that AMD makes.

Just look for the 512k goodness.

Barton's alson upped the FSB from 266Mhz to 333 and 400Mhz.

Just thought I might add to enhanced.
a barton is a processor made by AMD ,its an Athalon but AMD changed the design and its called a "Barton" chip.

Well it's still an Athlon, it just runs on the "Barton" core, like the earlier models ran on the "Thoroughbred" core and before that the "Palamino" core.

Barton is a type of horse, as is Thoroughbred, Palamino and Morgan. They used to name their chips after WW2 fighter planes (Spitfire and Mustand) then cars (Thunderbird).

Then how do you explain the original classic slot Athlon (Pluto) and the K6-2 (Chompers)? :D
