FProt for DOS.
AVG by Grisoft for Windows.
Or you can go to Trend Micro HouseCall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) and scan for viruses directly from that site.

ok i've had to restore my computer 2 times in last 3 days just to get it to run as it should be. It has been running very slow. I ran a virus check with trend micro but nuttin came up. Is it possible that there is actually a virus still????
should i reinstall windows and do a clean sweep????

Not sure if a clean sweep is the way to go... yet. Try running AVG, and seeing if there is anything Trend Micro didn't pick up. Also, Try running Ad-Aware and SpyBot also. Defrag you drive; A defragmented drive can make your system run noticibly slow...

From my experience, its pretty good overall for a free antivirus.. It has none of the yearly subscriptions and junk that major companies make you go through. With the proper virus update file, it can detect pretty much anything the big ones can.

Hi Kevinq. I've been asking the same sorts of questions you've been asking and I've basically learned that you can never be 100% protected. In addition to virus and firewall protection, there is also a need nowadays for spyware protection. Spyware can really slow down a computer and tinker with your registry. Virus protection alone won't necessarily detect unwanted spyware on your computer.
There are lots of free spyware protection programs out there that will detect spyware and automatically remove it. Although I haven't used these particular programs myself, many people have spoken highly about Adware and Spybot.
The bottom line is don't get overconfident with your pc protection, but don't get totally paranoid either. Taking common sense protection will go a long way in helping to keep your pc moderately safe. :-)
