SEATTLE, Washington (Reuters) -- Microsoft Corp. said on Friday that its latest version of Office software inadvertently contained a font featuring two swastikas, and said it would offer tools to remove and replace the offending characters from the program.

I hate what it stands for as much as anyone, but isn't this taking political correctness too far again?

I'd leave it in. Never know when you have to do a Nazi report.:D

Well, they are only offering a tool to remove the symbol. I guess you don't have to remove the symbol... I for one don't see any reason to have a swastika on my PC.

At least they're going to remedy the problem, the swastika before Hitler took it over for the symbol of his political party wasn't an "evil" symbol, but rather the swastika had to something to do with Buddhism Religion. It's rather sad how someone can take something good and making it evil that will probably have that meaning to the end of time.

It was a middle eastern symbol for good luck. I've seen it in the entrances of a few older buildings in NYC in the tile floors.

I say forget what it stood for and use it, it makes a nice symbol if you ask me. I am sure plenty of people hate the Vikings, but love their runes ;)

It was actually an Indian symbol for good luck. Hitlers swastika, and the Indian swastika actually look very different. The shape and rotaion are different b/w the two.

I better let Microsoft know that we need an option to remove the number 6 also since stringing three of them together really offends me.

I'm sure there must be people out there with a pathological fear of the ampersand. Better be able to take that one out, too.

There are symbols for the four suits in a deck of cards, also. This no doubt means that Microsoft supports gambling.

Come to think of it, you can string a whole bunch of letters together to make really offensive statements, time to get rid of written language.

Where does it end?
