I was watching tv the other day and two guys where on the computer waiting for this rabbit picture to come on the screen.
One guy says, dude this computer is smokeing lol, but the thing is ? we accutally thought they where fast.
Do you have fond memories of your old computers and the dreaded not inuf memorie screen ?
Also the ammount of money it cost to replace a memory card or a g card and the bank maneger said im not in ?
Computer parts are cheap compared to a few years ago, but we still love them to bits and we take more notice of them than our partners wives.

I was still using the Machintosh when the Pentium III came out... and kept on using it until the 1 Ghz mark... then my dad pitched it. It was great though when we bought it: 65 mhz 8 meg of RAM even spent alotta money to upgrade it to 32, and by then, I could play the original Warcraft!!!! Seriously, it was a good computer, and thats why I still have a once in a while look at Apple.

old pcs.. traded for new. The only thing I have is a 36.6k ISA slot modem.
Memories: placing my first vodoo 2 in my pc-first time I opend it. Then there was the imenly spending money to upgrade the system. Software. upt to dos 7.0. And all the games. Now those game don't work on XP. If they do work, the games are too fast.

I still have my family's first real PC..
It wasa Dell Dimension with a Pentium 166 mhz and 32 MB of RAM... and when we got it in either 95 or 96 it was considered smoking...
it cost like 3 grand back then, but it still works today.

Still have several SWTP 6800s and 6809s. But I've scrapped the 68Ks and the 8088, 80286, and 80386 stuff. Except for some Xerox 8088s that I just haven't reached the bottom of the pile yet. Oh, and the TRS80 m/bs that are on the bottom of another pile.

I had an AMD K6 233 MHZ untill a year and a half ago when the motherboard finally died. I remeber how amazed I was when I bought that 4 MB 3d-FX Monster 3D video card that hooked up to my old video card via crossover cable. I upgraded everything in that computer to where I couldn't upgrade it anymore. The final specs were: 233 MHZ CPU, 48 MB of EDO RAM, 6 GB 5400 RPM Fijitsu hard drive, Acer 48x CD-ROM, Monster 3D 4 MB video card, and an Asus mother board that I don' know the model of. I don't remember the computers I had before. All I remember is that they were extremely large and extremely slow.

my 200mhz pentium w/ windows 95. my dad bought it for me back in 97'? i believe. it was a micron. he paid 3000 doallars for it and we got a pc w/ monitor and printer. back then i didnt know anything about comps. we used AOL lol i think i got up to 3.0.
hey it played agre of empires online which i still play to this day. long live AOE. funny how not knowing anything about pc's, how easy one can get ripped off.
we had a couple of 86's with 3.1 windows around the house since my dad is a software manager for union bank of california.
but that 200mhz kicked but.
I STILL HAVE 5 1/2 FLOPPIES WITH SEGA GAMES!!!! wonder how much their worth lol.

Its nice to read the old stories and share your memories.
A few years ago someone pays $3000 for a computer ? and today you can buy three for the same price.
I played on a few computers and one my dad bought from tandy, he had to keep upgradeing the monitors and buying differnt g cards to run them and being pissed at spending so much money.
I had the commodor vic 20 and the sinclair spectrem and thinking these are cool.
I had amiga computers and atari 520 ste computers and playing loads of games.
Thats why when the amiga shut down i bought a pc :-).
I remember playing on my amiga and thinking pc users where all nerds and geeks and i would never cross over to the dark side ? lol.
I also thought games on the pc where slow and rubbish like jump man and not inuf memory when you tried to load the frre games off pc format mag.
I had no choice but to buy a pc after the amiga went stale, but thought ? hay i can do this lol.
The thing is, the pc scared the hell out of me and i thought i will naff something up and then the wife will go mad for spending so much money lol.
Sometimes i still get scared but not as much as before, and can fix most problems really quickly.
But the pc is my life and my love and less demanding than a woman, a pc wont ask for things, and i dont mind buying things for her.
All fond memories and im happy you have shared them.
I bet when you get out the old computers, i bet you think ? how the hell do i work this again ? lol.
Ps im happy to be nerdy and geeky becouse its cool and means i meet real good friends like you guys on here.
My wife hates me talking about hard drives and ram, and would rather my pc turned into something for her.
