is this a virus?

i was wondering if the Red Swoosh program was a virus...i saw it in the start up log using AIDA 32 but i dont remember installing this or what it is...and recently i have not been able to open the task manager

is it in add remove programs? I found two instances in searches that could be yours. one was a downloader and the other is a peer to peer application.
If it were me i would try to remove the app and do a on line scan at housecall or pcpitstop.
also consider running adaware and spybot.

i found it in programs and uninstalled it (there was an uninstaller) but i didnt check if it was in Remove programs before.
also something strange happened before.. i was installing some program (norton internet security or battlefield 1942 i forget) and after the install was complete the uninstall shield did not close and i tried closing it with task manager and thats when i noticed that task manager would not open

have you ran scandisk? boot into safe mode and run it from there.
