Hi,
It's Christmas time and a great time to release new games onto the market for any company.
However Duke Nukem Forever or DNF as it likes to call itself seems increasingly like 'Did Not Finish' to me. How many years has it been.........6.....7?
Christmas has come and gone years at a time. And still no Duke.
I mean come on!
I have all the E3D vids, screen shots etc that were available and the game looks amazing........but will it ever see the light of day? Somehow I doubt it....sadly.
Games have moved on so much and graphics/gameplay are so far advanced from when DNF 'should' have been released that I think if it ever does come out AT ALL it'll be way behind.......or else there'll be so much updating of the engine etc so as to delay it EVEN FURTHER :(
I don't know if any of you guys have any opinion / any opinion left on this after all the speculation but I've given up hope.
It may be released 'When It's Done' but I would like to see it 'done' before I depart this earth......ie DIE.
The biggest red herring or just anoher thread on DNF?
Probably be still waiting this time next year.....just after Half Life 3 has been released...........sigh :(

I'm starting to think Duke Nukem Forever will never be released, or went into oblivion kind of like Team Fortress 2.
Which is kind of funny since they impressed a bunch of people at E3 a couple of years ago.

Hi Mike,
Yeah! I was bashin' keys on Duke 3D for years and had the level editor, the modded .inf files etc.
God I loved that game but it won't play anymore on anything newer than 98se. I got XP pro and tried to run it.......XP wasn't having any of it :(
How could 3D Realms have got it SO wrong. They must be the laughing stock within the gaming industry. I mean Duke defined the genre then Half Life re-defined it again and since then.......no Duke.....just other developers trying to out-do Sierra.
I don't know. I used to follow the DNF news with baited breath for info, images.....anything at all! Now I just don't bother my ars with it cos it's a dead duck, for all intensive purposes.

How dare any of you doubt Mr. Nukem. He is making a fashionablly late entrance but when he arrives, he will kick the pants off you and any other game.

Hi Dragon,
Come on man. Joking aside. What has happened to DNF?
I believe in being optimistic and I would even post this thread but I've just run out of it.
I was 33 in November this year. I started playing Duke 3D when I was 26 WAY back in 1996! Now you tell me how many years that is. It's not that hard......and not that hard to see why my faith has wavered...:(
Now I sincerely hope I'm wrong and that DNF it the biggest, baddest ass-kickin' FPS EVER to come on the market.....
But ya gotta admit.....the bar has been set pretty high as of late! A bit TOO high I think but I hope I'm wrong......

Greatness takes time, just because some games come out in a year or less and are good (think Serious Sam 2), others take time. There will always be a game to "tide you over" until the next big game comes. Look for reviews and explore smaller games that have gotten good reviews and expand your horizons.
As far as a Duke Nukem game... they released "Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project". Go try that one out.:D

that game has been rewritten so many times....it started i think with the quake 2 engine, then switch halfway thru development to the unreal engine and scrapped again to be redone from scratch.
i call it duke nukem notever

Hi guys,
Forget Manhattan Project OK! Side scrollers are not my thing (except the classic arcade ones with MAME)
I'm with tigstah on this. Yeah it's been re-written / cut more times than the movie Robocop (apparently that was cut 17 times before the censors would allow its' release).
If you're a gamer and I love games and especially FPS games then this is a real blow. This verbal diahorea has been going on for years now as to when the damn thing'll be finished.
I'm gonna have a wager in the bookies that it's NOT done by Christmas 2004. I'll put €100 on it. The bookies probably won't take the bet cos they know as much as the rest of us which is 'When It's Done'

there is an article on blues news today
Also on HomeLAN Fed is a report based on this morning's conference call with Take Two Interactive saying the publisher is passing along indications they have received from 3D Realms that Duke Nukem Forever is heading for a release in "late 2004 or early 2005." Of course the game's release is entirely in the hands of 3D Realms, and it's doubtful that their official release date for the game has changed from their hard-line mantra of "when it's done."
wow another year......YAWN!!!!

Yea yea and what if aliens ruled the world! Wait, um .... ok nevrmind that one. But how do you go from very detailed FPS pictures from E3 to a side scroller? If that was DNF then I'm waiting for DNF2.
