I recently moved my computer that runs XP pro back home.

I want to connect to my computer to my familiy's computer which runs XP home. I connected the modem to a network hub, then connected both computers to it.

The home computer connects, as it did before. I ran the networking wizard on both computers, and mine still won't connect. I am using Comcast Cable if that helps. Thanks.

Can you view files on the network? Check your firewall settings in case something is being blocked and even check the router settings to make sure you are receiving an IP that is aloud to connect to the router. Double check your router/gateway IP to make sure it has been entered correctly. Do you have a static network IP or does your router assign you one?

bad way to do it.
you should use a router with a built in switching hub

Each PC needs a IP address to connect to internet. If using a hub or a switch you will need to get another IP address from your ISP. Most charge extra for additional IP addresses.

A router with built in switch will only require one IP address and will in turn assign IP addresses to each PC connected.

Your options are;
1) Get another IP address from your ISP.
2) Run ICS. Really a pain and not a very good way to do it.
3) Get a router. Some good ones are Linksys, SMC and D-Link. They can be had for about $40.00 for wired version.

And if you look for rebate deals on the router, you can get one dirt cheap, or even free! :D
